Sound Frequencies, Chakras and Keeping Expectations Grounded

8:04 pm 24 October 2026 0 Comments

Websites often pair particular frequencies with chakras or organs. Here is how to enjoy sound as a restful experience without signing up to any theory.

Beliefs attached to particular tones

Browse sound-healing websites and you will find specific frequencies said to suit particular chakras, organs or emotions. These associations belong to the belief systems of certain practices. Interesting as they are, these ideas do not demonstrate that any note can mend tissue, repair an organ or settle a mental health condition.

Enjoying sound for what it offers

None of this means sound has nothing to give. Many people simply find a sound session restful, reflective or pleasantly absorbing. In Lane Cove, Dr Christine Shen, Acupuncturist, runs sound sessions purely as a relaxation and wellbeing experience. You can ask her what she has in mind for your session and share what you would like from it.

Taking part should never depend on accepting a particular energy theory. You are welcome to enjoy the tones whatever your view of chakras or vibrations.

Adjusting the session to suit you

Small changes can make a big difference to how settled you feel, for example:

  • turning the volume down;
  • placing instruments further away;
  • choosing a seat or mat that feels right;
  • knowing you can pause whenever you wish.

You are not expected to have any specific emotional response, nor to stay perfectly still. Speak up about what is comfortable, and treat the session as a pleasant pause rather than a medical intervention. If you have a physical or mental health concern, your GP is a good first port of call.

Questions are always welcome

If a website has made a confident claim about a frequency and you are wondering what to make of it, bring it up. Christine can talk about where such ideas come from while keeping the focus on a calm, comfortable session at the Lane Cove clinic. Some people find that, once the pressure to believe something is gone, they can simply listen and enjoy the sound for its own sake.
