Rainbow Medicine has formalised partnerships with three GP practices on Sydney's North Shore, creating structured referral pathways in both directions. The partnerships aim to reduce friction in cross-disciplinary care and ensure patients receive timely, coordinated support across primary and allied health.
The agreements cover shared referral templates, agreed turnaround times for written summaries, and quarterly clinical-case meetings where complex patients can be discussed with the patient's written consent. Patient privacy is protected at every stage — sharing only occurs with explicit, written authorisation.
"Patients lose out when their providers don't talk to each other," said Dr Christine Shen. "These partnerships codify what good practice should already be doing — fast referrals, clean handover summaries, and a shared sense of accountability for outcomes."
GP partners include practices in Lane Cove, Chatswood and Crows Nest. Rainbow Medicine is continuing conversations with several other practices in the catchment. Patients are not obliged to use a partnered GP — referrals from any GP are welcomed and routed in the same way.
Patients who would like to nominate their GP as a recipient of treatment summaries can do so during the intake form or by speaking with reception. The default position remains no information sharing without consent.
